Who could benefit from orthotics?
75% of the adult population have been found to have foot misalignments, where the bones or joints in the feet are moving incorrectly, not enough or too much. This can cause not only pain in the feet but it also changes the alignment of many other joints in the body; the ankles, knees, hips and even the spine. Therefore, correcting these foot misalignments can benefit a wide range of issues not only in the feet, but also further up the body.
Examples of conditions that may benefit from custom orthotics:
Plantar Fasciitis
Hallus Valgus (Bunion formation)
Morton’s neuroma
Metatarsalgia
Shin splints
Flat feet (low/collapsed arches)
Why may custom orthotics be superior to off the shelf orthotics?
Having orthotics moulded specifically to your feet, especially using the FootBalance method, ensures that the orthotics work to restore the foot alignment that is natural to you. We determine the natural height of your arch and produce orthotics that support this, instead of forcing you into a one-size-fits-all alignment.
How does the process work?
If you or your therapist feel you could benefit from orthotics, you will be booked in for a biomechanical assessment and moulding session. Following a physical and FootBalance plate assessment, you will have the most appropriate type of orthotic custom heat-moulded to your feet, which will be ready for you to take away with you the same day.
A review session will be arranged for 4-8 weeks after, to make sure you are happy with your orthotics and to make any adjustments necessary.
How long do they last?
This depends on how often you wear them, the activities you wear them for and how often you change the shoes they’re in. Custom medical orthotics often continue to provide the desired level of support for 9-12 months. If they are used for sports, this is typically 6-9 months.
Is there a guarantee?
FootBalance are so confident that their orthotics will produce the desired result that they offer a 30-day guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with your orthotics within 30 days, then a full refund will be offered. Just bear in mind that it can take some time to get used to them.
