Pregnancy massage is customised to an expectant mother's needs but is most often used to promote relaxation. Since many pregnant women suffer from lower back pain and swollen ankles especially in the later months, prenatal massage is a safe, drug-free way to provide relief.
How does it differ from a "regular" massage?
As the recipient is pregnant, the massage therapist requires greater knowledge of pregnancy and anatomy of a pregnant woman. This means that positioning during a massage is critical to the safety and well-being of both the mother and the baby she is carrying. There are also parts of the body that should not be massaged.
Our massage therapists have received specialised training and are certified in prenatal massage. They know how to position and support a woman's body during the massage, modify techniques, and avoid certain areas during pregnancy.
They use a special pillow that allows you to rest comfortably and safely during the massage. You can even lie on your front!!
