Chiropody and podiatry are health practices, which deal with assessing, diagnosing and treating diseases and pain in the feet and the lower limb.
Feet have an incredibly complex structure comprising of 26 bones and over 100 ligaments and muscles. Foot pain is not normal but the good news is that 80% of foot pain can be relieved by just one treatment. On average we take about 7500 steps per day so looking after your feet is an important part of your general health.
The services that we offer are quite extensive and we tailor our treatments to each individual client. Podiatry and biomechanics work mainly on the lower limbs but these treatment methods can have far reaching benefits, even helping with back and neck pain.
Podiatrists work closely with diabetic clients due to the likelihood of nerve damage. We have a number of treatments to help diabetic patients and can send an annual report to their diabetic nurse.
Specialist treatments and technology
At Jane Swales Podiatry, not only are we up to date with all the latest procedures, we also embrace all new technologies. The computerised gait scanner helps us hugely with diagnoses.
Gait scanner and bespoke orthotics
The gait scanner is a pressure sensitive plate which picks up when and how your feet touch the ground. It gives an accurate digital, biomechanical record of your gait allowing us to optimise foot function and produce bespoke orthotics to help posture, stance and gait.
Surprisingly, something as simple as a change in the way you walk can have a massive effect on the rest of the body.
